Laura checking out her birthday present

I've just been doing computer stuff the past couple of days. Kinda drives me crazy being stuck in the office all day.

Here's the real picture of me that I promised. Laura and I celebrating our birthdays with my mom. (Mine was last month). Laura is 8 now! and I'm not saying how old I am.

More grass seed and straw today for me. But I couldn't resist a short nap in the sun. (Picture courtesy of the self timer feature on my cell phone.)

Matt and James took the day off and dug for the footers!! They got the concrete delivered and finished up just before it started raining, again.

White gone blue. Thanks for your help Doc Jeff!

My mom came today. We met the kids for lunch and checked out their classrooms.

I had to share this picture I just went out and took for you all. Of course the picture doesn't show exactly what I see. It is a cool 55 degrees and it's one of those fall skies where it isn't going to rain but there are dark clouds strewn across a blue sky and the evening glow of the sun is a golden splash on the trees that are ready to turn. (click on the picture to see it bigger) This is my favorite season!

I realized our intentions with this building might not be known to everyone. We would like use this as our guest house, (those of you who will be coming to visit will have it made). We would also like to make it available for missionaries passing through or might need to rent something during their furlough. We could also just use it as a regular rental. That's why we want to make it functional and large enough to be a comfortable place to stay.

Today I went and made the official order and paid the downpayment!! Now we're waiting for it to dry up enough so Matt can dig and get it ready for concrete.

Its been a week since we planted the grass and it's about 1 1/2 inches now!! The day after we planted the grass seed, it rain real hard. Even with the straw on it I didn't think it had a chance. I figured all the seed would end up in a pile along the bottom of the hills. Looks like they must have sprouted in time and hung on for dear life.

We went and got paint today for our office building which is only primed right now. We painted the posts and the trim. I will get a picture when it's all done. That's about all we got accomplished. We finished the night off with a late supper of beans on toast (a good ole Batchelder meal) which is what we eat when we don't have anything planned or time to prepare something. It's Laura's favorite, she ate as much as me.
(This picture is put in here at random b/c I need it to be somewhere in here so i can linkto it for my profile picture)

Last night we went to the Wayne County Fair.

The kids rode the ferris wheel.

The company who is
building our house has a small barn up at the fair always so we stopped by. We worked out our estimate and what all we want. We will go at the beginning of next week to their business and make the official order. Yeah!

Last night Matt graded the hills along the drive and then I followed with grass seed and straw. My sister-in-law, Esther helped and Laura was a big help as well! (I finished it up today in the rain.) I don't have a picture to include for this one b/c no one takes pictures of me. Maybe someone could tell Matt to be sure to capture his wife on photograph in this life so it doesn't look like I wasn't there. I know there's usually one parent that is behind the camera mostly but hey, if that's not you out there, grab the camera and take a picture of that other person!

I think we have finally figured out where we will be at once the snow flies. You can check this link out to see what it will look like. We will have a two stall garage and a porch like the green one, (and not either of those colors).

This is the dozer Matt used to clear our road, drive and pad where the structure will go.

The flat part here is where it will go with porch overlooking the hill to the left.
